"I'm in a much healthier relationship with food and exercise than I’ve ever been in my entire life."

Meet Kendal. Kendal is 6 months into my health coaching program and when it comes to eating and exercise, her mindset has taken a massive shift. She is no longer obsessing about her next meal and enjoying more veggies than ever before. But don't take it from me. Hear it from Kendal herself. Here's her story:

How did you feel before working with me?

Before working together, I felt desperate when it came to food and my body. I remember one day feeling so lost and down that I posted on the Diet Starts Tomorrow Facebook group about how to find a health coach because I knew I had to do something. I had gained weight steadily after college and was 30+ pounds heavier than I wanted to be. I also have a family with a lot of health issues such as diabetes and heart disease, and I wanted to get myself in better shape to help prevent those problems down the road.


What else have you tried to solve these issues? How did it go?

I’ve tried a lot. I did Weight Watchers for a few years, but I felt like it was so restrictive and I did not see much weight loss for how little I ate. In addition to WW, I tried calorie counting, but found myself in a similar situation where I would try to stick to the 1200 calories recommended to me by MyFitnessPal, but end up binging after a few days of being “good.” More recently, I also tried doing Whole 30, Paleo, low-carb and eating “clean,” but each time I would get discouraged when I didn’t see results, give up and gain the little weight I did lose plus more.


What changed after working with me?

The biggest change I’ve noticed is my mindset. I am in a much healthier relationship with food and exercise than I’ve ever been in my entire life. Before working with Taylor, I would constantly use excuses that contributed to an overall unhealthy lifestyle (e.g. I had to stay up late eating wings because I was out at a bar with friends, or I had no choice but the drive through because I was running to a meeting after work). I now find myself calling out those thoughts when I have them and realizing that I have the power to choose what I want to eat and how I want to treat my body. While I’m still working to get the weight off, I also don’t feel like I carry around the same amount of shame and guilt about the food I eat, which has helped give me a more balanced approach to nutrition, and I don’t seem to spend my days thinking about what I’ll have at my next meal (something I never thought was possible!). I’ve adopted healthier habits, eat more veggies than I ever did in the past and am giving myself grace as I continue to walk through this health journey.


If you were to recommend me to a friend, what would you say?

Taylor is just the best. She’s so willing to work with you to find what works best for YOU. With her, I’ve find the right sustainable amount of calories to eat in a day, and have gone through phases of tracking calories, not tracking calories, and trying different eating styles to find out exactly what works best for me and my lifestyle. Having her guidance and expertise in health and nutrition has been crucial. I genuinely look forward to our calls, where I can hash out what worked and didn’t work over the past week. She’s added a level of accountability I need, and she knows how to walk that line perfectly between being a coach and your own personal cheerleader. She’s the best!
